The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the landscape of reasonable accommodation in a rapid and unprecedented manner, leaving those who work in disability law scrambling to catch up. In this session, popular FDR speakers Gary Gilbert and Deryn Sumner will apply EEOC guidance and caselaw to current reasonable accommodation challenges to help attendees ensure that their agencies comply with the law, no matter what the circumstances. Mr. Gilbert and Ms. Sumner will discuss how virus-related risks or a COVID-19 diagnosis could impact an employee's rights and responsibilities. They'll also explain why virus-related accommodations for individuals with disabilities may need to continue, when alternative accommodations could be appropriate, and how best to approach reasonable accommodation discussions.
