Dr. Carine Lallemand is Editor-in-Chief of The Cyber Defense Review and a tenured professor specializing in Human-Computer Interaction. Drawing on a background in psychology and human-centered design, her research over the past 15 years has explored the human dimensions of emerging technologies, investigating how people perceive, trust, adopt, question, resist, circumvent, adapt to, and innovate with digital systems, and how technology design can strengthen or undermine security, privacy, decision-making, and human behavior. An internationally recognized expert in Human-Computer Interaction methods, she develops and validates research and evaluation approaches that enable organizations to rigorously study, design, and assess emerging technologies. Her expertise spans usable security and privacy, human-centered AI, and the design of interactive and data-driven systems. She has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications and collaborates extensively across academia, industry, and the defense research community. As Editor-in-Chief of The Cyber Defense Review, she oversees contributions from military leaders, policymakers, practitioners, and researchers, giving her a unique vantage point on the emerging research, operational thinking, and strategic debates shaping the future of cyber defense, AI information operations, and military innovation. She is actively engaged in advancing peer review practices, strengthening research integrity, and driving innovation in scholarly publishing through reviewer development initiatives, new publication formats, and efforts to address emerging challenges such as genAI and the sustainability of scientific peer review.
