First Lieutenant Richard Forrest Ansell, Jr. is a U.S. Army Signal Officer currently serving as a Signal Advisor to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the Security Assistance Group-Ukraine (SAG-U). 1LT Ansell originally enlisted and subsequently commissioned into the United States Army Reserve through the Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia, then later transitioned to Active Duty through the Call to Active Duty (CAD) program. Prior to his full-time military service, 1LT Ansell held a civilian career in the Information Technology sector specializing in data analytics and data engineering roles. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Liberty University and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Information Technology. His previous military assignments include serving as an Assistant Battalion Operations Officer (AS3) for Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC), 50th Expeditionary Signal Battalion (Enhanced), at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. During his time in the Army Reserve, he served as the Company Commander and Executive Officer for D Company, 2d Battalion, 317th Regiment, and as a Platoon Leader and Operations Officer for A Company, 392d Expeditionary Signal Battalion. He has also completed one mobilization in the Middle East in support of the Combined Joint Task Force - Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. In September, 1LT Ansell will begin the Captains Career Course at the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center & School (USAJFKSWCS).
