Rebecca Callis Mixson has been a valued member of the University of Georgia Small Business Development Center (UGA SBDC) since 2014, serving in progressively responsible leadership roles including Program Coordinator, Business Consultant, and now Area Director for the Augusta office. Rebecca is passionate about helping entrepreneurs succeed at every stage of business—from launching a new venture to planning for growth and expansion. She is a trusted resource for business owners seeking strategic guidance, operational planning, and practical solutions to move their businesses forward. Drawing on her strong foundation in both business and education, she provides thoughtful, results-oriented advice tailored to each client's unique goals. Her analytical mindset and affinity for financial data enable her to develop realistic financial projections and prepare clients for successful conversations with lenders and investors when seeking capital. Prior to joining the UGA SBDC, Rebecca built an accomplished career in education, serving as a mathematics educator, assistant building administrator, and building principal attached to a military base in the Midwest. These leadership roles strengthened her expertise in communication, organizational management, and developing the potential of others—skills that continue to serve her well as she advises and consults with business owners. Rebecca also brings extensive experience in retail operations and staff management. Her background includes merchandising, marketing strategy, brand development, and identifying emerging market trends. She is particularly skilled at helping businesses develop effective staffing strategies, whether recruiting experienced professionals or building high-performing teams from the ground up. Rebecca resides in Aiken, South Carolina, with her husband, Richard.
