The Critical Role of Abrasives in Blast Cleaning
Abrasive characteristics make a big difference in the technical and commercial effectiveness of a finishing operation. This presentation will use SAE specifications as a framework to discuss what to look for in a good abrasive, and how it impacts the cleaning operation and machine performance. The discussion will extend into the two main abrasive types, metallic and non-metallic. We will compare the estimated operating costs and evaluate the efficacy of each type. Alternatives to mineral abrasives will also be presented.
