In this presentation we will go beyond the basics of Form Tapping. We will start with nomenclature and the vocabulary differences between cut taps and thread taps. Then we will go into How Does Thread Forming Work? We will also cover topics such as: Hole Size Formulas + Effects of Bevels + Minor Diameter + CMD Effects + Gage Limits + H-Limits + some basic trouble shooting and helpful formulas. Then we will go onto tap optimization + how to balance getting the most tool life out of your taps with the cost of optimal running conditions. We will teach you how to break down your Cost Benefit Analysis on using Specials vs. Standard Tools and how to run ‘True Tool Life’ trials. Lastly, Q&A time with our application engineers; we'll do our best to answer your questions about applications that are a pain in the ‘AHSS’ to tap!
