It is now common to use model-based development (MBD) methods to develop embedded software. Algorithms are developed in a graphical modelling language that can be executed in simulation, and code for the embedded target (“autocode”) can then be generated automatically by a translation tool. A representative use-case is to model in MathWorks' Simulink and Stateflow and to generate C autocode.
