Human vision captures only a small window of the total information that objects reflect or emit. Multispectral imaging captures light outside the visible range revealing differences normally invisible to the naked eye. This presentation will explore the basics of human color perception and contrast it with the expanded capabilities of multispectral imaging. Attendees will gain insight into fundamentals of multispectral imaging, how multispectral imaging coupled with AI enables new capabilities for machine perception, and its practical uses in manufacturing, agriculture, and security. A live demonstration will showcase how two objects, indistinguishable in color to people, can be accurately differentiated using their spectral signatures and AI.
