Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) is redefining data transmission in modern applications. Defined by IEEE 802.1 standards, TSN enhances standard Ethernet to enable deterministic, real-time communication - crucial for critical applications. While traditionally focused on wired networks, the growing demand for mobility, flexibility, and cost-effective deployment has accelerated interest in wireless communication. Technologies like 5G and Wi-Fi 6/6E are evolving to meet TSN’s stringent requirements, offering enhanced capabilities that extend its potential in wireless environments.

5G is a key-enabler, bringing Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communications, enhanced time synchronisation, and increased bandwidth to applications. However, the integration of 5G with TSN is still in its initial phase, requiring additional data and insights to prove its viability.

At embedded world North America, Avnu Alliance members will present the findings of their latest whitepaper - titled ‘Wireless TSN: 5G integration’, breaking down the data and test results behind 5G time synchronization, latency, and schedule management which will provide the comprehensive framework for widespread adoption of 5G and TSN for years to come.
