The codes and specifications are available and are ever advancing. The presentation will outline these documents for reference related to glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) reinforcing bars. Advantages of GFRP compared to steel and common misconceptions will be reviewed and clarified with comparisons to the steel reinforcement industry. GFRP reinforcing bars offer a high strength, light weight, non-corrosive reinforcing option compared to steel for pool and spa projects. Further, best construction practices will be outlined to gain familiarity with GFRP bars and ready the contractor community for use.
