Helping students recognize their strengths early can increase engagement, confidence and persistence in technical education programs. Yet many students enter CTE pathways without a clear understanding of how their abilities connect to technical skills and career opportunities. This interactive session explores practical strategies SkillsUSA advisors can use to help students identify their strengths and connect them to SkillsUSA programs, competitions and career pathways. Participants will learn how strengths-based advising can help guide students toward programs aligned with their abilities and interests while strengthening connections between classroom learning and future careers. Through examples and guided discussion, advisors will gain tools to support meaningful career exploration conversations and help students see new possibilities for their futures in skilled careers.
