Conflict Resolution: Resolving Challenges
Speaker(s):
Deanna Dobbins, Superintendent & CEO, Future Generations Educational Consulting, Future Generations Educational Consulting / White Rock Public Schools
The most difficult task for any educational leader is not managing a budget or a board; it is holding people accountable to high expectations when their behavior turns toxic. In an era of chronic staffing shortages, the fear of being "short-handed" often leads to a "culture of allowance," where toxic behavior is tolerated if the employee is a "good worker." However, the cost of inaction is a hidden tax on student success and staff morale. Led by an active Superintendent and researcher in grit and self-efficacy, this session explores the "Stop the Bleeding" framework for leadership. Participants will discuss the essential systems that must be in place before accountability can take root, the psychological toll of leading through conflict, and the professional grit required to remove toxicity—even when it leaves you shorthanded. Attendees leave with a tactical roadmap for protecting their organization’s culture and ensuring every staff member truly serves the needs of students.
