Innovating for Success: Cutting Edge Practices
This session bridges research and practice to support teams using a Response to Intervention/Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework to identify students with Specific Learning Disabilities in alignment with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Presenters will contrast historical compliance-based practices with a vision for a more preventative, data-driven, and collaborative identification process. Attendees will leave with customizable tools—meeting agendas, facilitator scripts, decision-making protocols, family engagement guides, and notetaking templates—developed through a unique collaboration among researchers, technical assistance providers, State Education Agency leaders, and public-school stakeholders. Come ready to learn, reflect, and return to your school or district equipped to implement these practices with fidelity and integrity.
