Special education administrators play a critical role in the development and implementation of systems that support effective teaching, inclusive practices, and positive outcomes for students with disabilities. One such system that is critical to the development of effective teaching is mentoring (Ronfeldt et al., 2018). Collaboration for mentor training with local educator preparation programs can be integral (Zhou, 2025). This session explores how educator preparation programs and staff at a state education agency collaborated with local special education and school administrators to develop mentor training for pre-service and novice educators broadly, that included a focus on state initiatives and high-leverage practices. The session will highlight the importance of collaboration between educator preparation programs and local school districts as one strategy for developing a strong teacher pipeline.
