Translating Research into Practice: Empowering Administrators to Implement Evidence-Based and High-Leverage Practices in Special Education (Room Ballroom A)

The gap between research and classroom practice remains one of the most persistent challenges in special education — and special education leaders are uniquely positioned to close it. Evidence-based practices (EBPs) and high-leverage practices (HLPs) have a strong research foundation for improving outcomes for students with disabilities, yet many systems struggle to move from awareness to consistent, schoolwide implementation. This session, led by the National Center for Systemic Improvement (NCSI), offers state and local administrators a practical framework for supporting teachers in finding, selecting, and sustaining EBPs and HLPs. Participants will explore a key resource for identifying relevant practices, examine common implementation barriers, and discuss strategies for building local capacity.
