Advancing Equity Through Inclusive Planning for Students with Complex Needs (Room 551A)

This session explores how educational leaders can support teachers in intentionally planning meaningful, inclusive opportunities for students with complex needs. Participants will learn about the Inclusion Institute model, a collaborative planning process that brings together school staff and families to create individualized plans for including students with complex needs within the school community. Participants will learn how to facilitate structured conversations about the purpose of inclusion, curricular access, and the procedural supports needed to ensure students’ meaningful participation in the general education classroom. The process emphasizes collaboration, reflection, and problem-solving to address each student’s unique strengths and needs. Participants will gain tools to help teams create actionable, inclusive plans that promote equitable and meaningful inclusion for students with complex needs.
