Tracks: Innovating for Success: Cutting Edge Practices

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly entering education, but many administrators are still asking practical questions: How can we use it safely? Which tools should we use? Where should we start? This session will provide a clear and practical introduction to AI designed specifically for education leaders. Participants will learn the fundamentals of how modern AI works, what administrators need to understand about models and tools, and how to think about responsible and secure adoption within schools and districts. Presenters will also share real-world examples of how special education departments are already beginning to implement AI to improve efficiency, support staff, and streamline administrative tasks. Attendees will gain insight into what is working today, what still has limitations, and how to begin experimenting safely within their own organizations. The session will be structured in three parts: • AI Fundamentals for Administrators – a practical overview of AI, models, and safe usage in education. • Real Examples from Special Education Departments – how schools are using AI today to support staff and improve workflows. • Interactive Q&A – an open discussion where participants can ask questions and explore practical next steps. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of AI and a practical starting point for guiding AI adoption with their teams.
