Jessica Haaz serves as Inspector General for Vendor Integrity at the New York City Department of Investigation. In this role, she oversees a unit includes DOI's Integrity Monitor Program and is responsible for protecting the City’s interests – particularly in large-scale, capital-intensive projects, contracts, and in the broader procurement space. DOI’s Integrity Monitor Program permits the City to enter into or continue contracts with companies that might otherwise be precluded from doing business with the City because of identified integrity issues. The Program also proactively oversees certain large-scale City projects, such as the Asylum Seeker Initiative and the Borough-Based Jails program, to help identify red flags and protect tax dollars from waste and fraud. Prior to joining DOI, she spent over ten years at the New York State Offices of the Inspector General , where she most recently served as the Attorney in Charge of Special Investigations. In that role, she oversaw and conducted statewide public corruption investigations and led large-scale initiatives that required special attention due to their scope, subject matter, or droader public policy implications. Additionally, she served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, where she prosecuted cases involving violent crimes, vehicular crimes, identity theft, and fraud. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy from Duke University and a J.D. from Cardozo School of Law.
