Marina Alvarez is a retired federal information technology specialist with over 30 years of experience at the cutting edge of communications and network security. She began in the United States Marine Corps as an Air Traffic Control Communications Technician, responsible for providing secure, uninterrupted communications systems for crucial aviation safety operations. Her civilian federal government career began with the United States Department of Justice, where she served as the Asset Forfeiture Management Staff's Engineering and Operations Manager. She managed Forfeiture Systems' class B network, which provided IT services to 13 government agencies under the Asset Forfeiture Program. Her last role in government was with the Department of State System Enterprise - Identity, Credential, and Access Management (SE-ICAM) program. As the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Department's ICAM initiative, leading the implementation of numerous essential integrated software components (Okta, SailPoint, and RadiantLogic). Responsible for creating the Master User Record (MUR) for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency's (CISA) Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) program.
