Colonel Alex Peake began his Army career as a Second Lieutenant in the Signal Corps after earning a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. He first served as an 18th Airborne Corps Recruiter before completing the Signal Officer Basic Course.
Colonel Peake’s early assignments took him to the 25th Infantry Division, where he led Soldiers as a Platoon Leader and later served as Executive Officer for A Company, 125th Signal Battalion. He then became the Battalion Signal Officer for 3rd Battalion, 7th Field Artillery, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th ID.
He deepened his technical and leadership expertise by completing the Signal Officer Advanced Course and the Combined Arms and Services Staff School. He went on to serve as Assistant Operations Officer for the 82nd Signal Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, and later as Deputy Secretary of the General Staff for the 82nd following his deployment to New Orleans in support of Hurricane Katrina and Rita relief operations.
After graduating from the Information Systems Manager Course in 2007, Colonel Peake took on the role of Information Systems Manager for 1st BCT, 101st Airborne Division. He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (2007–2008) and took command of C Company, 1st Special Troops Battalion. He deployed again for Operation Enduring Freedom (2010–2011) as the BCT Signal Officer. He later completed Intermediate Level Education at Fort Leavenworth.
In 2012, he transitioned to the Pentagon, serving in key leadership roles with the Joint Staff Support Center at the Defense Information Systems Agency, including Deputy Chief of Operations and Senior Technical Advisor. In 2016, he deployed as the Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT) J6, supporting Operation Inherent Resolve and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. Upon redeployment, he attended the Joint Combined Warfighter School and joined the Joint Staff.
On the Joint Staff, Colonel Peake served in the J39 Cyberspace and Electronic Warfare Operations Division and the Special Projects and Innovation Division. He later took on the role of G6 for the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson and served as Deputy Director of the NORAD and USNORTHCOM Joint Cyber Center at Peterson Space Force Base. Following graduation from the U.S. Army War College, he served as Executive Officer to the Commanding General of the Communications-Electronics Command. He currently serves as the I Corps G6 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
Colonel Peake’s academic achievements include a Doctor of Science in Cybersecurity, two Master of Science degrees (Administration and Strategic Studies), and a Chief Information Security Officer Graduate Certificate. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star (1 OLC), Defense Meritorious Service (3 OLC), Meritorious Service (2 OLC), Army Commendation (2 OLC), Joint Service Achievement, and Army Achievement Medals (2 OLC), and the Combat Action, Pathfinder, Air Assault, and Parachutist Badges.
Colonel Peake is married (25 years) to the former Shronda Wade of Rocky Mount, NC. They are proud parents of two adult daughters, Alexis and Ali.
