Chris Miller
Former Acting Secretary of Defense



Chris Miller is a seasoned national security professional with a background in uniformed and civilian service. He served as Acting Secretary of Defense (2020-2021) and previously led counterterrorism efforts at the Department of Defense. A retired Army Special Forces colonel, Chris also worked on the White House’s National Security Council, directed the National Counterterrorism Center, and served as Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low Intensity Conflict. He founded counter-drone company, FPF-Defense, and recently published a book, “Soldier-Secretary,” detailing his experiences and philosophy. Chris’s career spans over three decades and he has received degrees from the George Washington University, Naval War College, and Army War College.
