KEVIN KALTENBACHER

Originally a teacher with a BS in Education from Temple University, Kevin had the makings for a career in Pool and Spa Industry... A friend with an expanding pool company, and summer vacations. That's really how it all began. Upon joining the team for what was expected to be one closing season, things quickly evolved from there and the "Chlorine was in his blood" from that point on. Kevin left his previous teaching position and began working in the industry full time over five years ago. He is a fully accredited American Red Cross Instructor teaching lifesaving skills to Professional Rescuers as well as the general population. After an emergency in his classroom involving a student years ago, Kevin realized the importance of being prepared at all times. During lunch, "Mr. K" at the time realized that one of his 10 year old students was choking on a piece of food at a table in the cafeteria. His training kicked in and using the skills covered in the CPR/AED/First Aid certification class, he was able to free the obstruction from the child's throat giving him the ability to breathe prior to any further complications arising. This event and the water rescue of another student while swimming during P.E. made Kevin acutely aware of the importance of lifesaving skills getting to as many people as possible in order to help prepare for when the unthinkable happens. In the industry in which we all work, lifesaving skills will prove to be invaluable whether it be on the job or at home enjoying some time by the pool with family and friends.
