An Alabama native, Captain Edmonds earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Alabama A&M University and received his Master of Business Administration with a focus in Financial Management from the Naval Postgraduate School. He also received professional military education from the National Defense University, and executive level training with certifications from the University of Virginia (Darden) and University of Pennsylvania (Wharton) Schools of Business.
His operational assignments include tours onboard the USS Nimitz CVN 68, USS Dwight D. Eisenhower CVN 69, USS Stethem DDG 63, USS Cushing DD 985 and USS Harry S. Truman CVN 75. Each of his ships earned Supply Blue “E” Awards for Excellence.
Previous shore assignments include Commanding Officer of Naval Supply Systems Command Fleet Logistics Center Norfolk; Chief of Staff in the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Financial Operations; Program, Budget and Analysis Division Analyst and Executive Assistant to the Director, Joint Staff (J8); Aviation Readiness Analyst and Program Objective Memorandum Mechanic, Chief of Naval Operations (N80) and Operational Logistics Planner, Naval Forces Central Command (N4).
A Joint Qualified Officer and member of the Acquisition Professional Community, he has also earned Supply Corps warfare qualifications in Aviation and Surface and holds sub-specialty codes in Financial Management and Operations Research.
Furthermore, Captain Edmonds is a recipient of the peer nominated Navy and Marine Corps Association’s Leadership award for outstanding leadership, the Navy Supply Corps Foundation’s Volunteer of the Year award for devoted community service and the Stennis Center’s Five Star Leadership award for exceptional leadership and superior performance.
His personal decorations include the Legion of Merit (2), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medals (2), Joint Service Commendation Medals (3), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals (4), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals (3) and Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, among other unit and campaign commendations.
