Russell Surasky




Russell Surasky, DO, FAAN, FASAM is a double board-certified neurologist, certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Preventive Medicine in Addiction Medicine.  He is one of the few physicians in the country with this rare combination of credentials. Dr. Surasky attended medical school at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine where he received honors in multiple specialties including psychiatry, family practice, and surgery. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Queens Hospital Center and his residency in neurology at North Shore University Hospital/Long Island Jewish Medical Center. A national expert in addiction medicine, Dr. Surasky is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology (FAAN) and the American Society of Addiction Medicine (FASAM). Dr. Surasky previously served as the medical director for one of the largest outpatient addiction treatment programs in New York State. He is also a highly sought-after speaker on cutting-edge treatments for substance use disorders. He is the author of the bestselling book This Book Will Save Your Life (Simon & Schuster), which discusses the latest evolution in our understanding of addiction and precise breakthrough new treatments that help save lives. The book features a foreword by Dr. Drew Pinsky and an endorsement from Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the Archbishop of New York. Dr. Surasky is currently in full-time clinical practice with Northwell Health and serves as an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Dr. Surasky maintains hospital privileges at North Shore University Hospital of Manhasset as well as Long Island Jewish Hospital in New Hyde Park. Actively involved in the medical community, Dr. Surasky is a member of several professional organizations, including: American Academy of Neurology, American Society of Addiction Medicine and the Nassau County Medical Society.
