Raju Shah
Enterprise Engineering Director and Chief Experience Officer
Defense Information System Agency
Raju Shah is the director of Defense Information Systems Agency’s Enterprise Engineering directorate and chief experience officer. He is principal advisor to the agency on enterprise engineering and leads the directorate in support of DISA operations with a focus on end-user experience through end-to-end engineering and disciplined governance across the agency. Before joining DISA, Shah was the deputy chief information officer with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Services and received the Service to the Citizen Champion of Change 2019 Award. He also held the role of acting CIO and detailed into a senior leadership position as the senior advisor – data scientist. He was also the deputy director and program manager of DISA's National Background Investigation Services. Additionally, he served as the civilian deputy for DISA’s Services Directorate and was responsible for optimal and rapid delivery solutions for mission-critical enterprise and tactical systems across the warfighter, business and intelligence mission areas, leveraging the enterprise user vision including converting the data centers into a line of business ecosystems. Through his guidance, Shah met the agency’s objectives, formed and maintained partnerships with policy and congressional staffs, and efficiently utilized resources. He received a Directorate of the Year award. Shah began his federal career with NASA, where he served as the chief of the Information and Applications Office, overseeing information management, applications, scientific computing and visualization portfolios. He was selected as a deputy chief information officer in 2015 and posted at the John H. Glenn Research Center. He has received NASA's prestigious Silver Achievement medal. Shah also worked in the academic realm. He held the title of director of Information Technology at the University of Maryland College Park and led a variety of projects including IT consolidation initiatives, business continuity, VoIP installations, high performance computing/research computing, and the development of IT governance standards. Shah holds master’s in information systems and bachelor’s in computer science.
