Michael (Mike) Butler

Michael Butler is the Chief Engineer for the DODNet information technology network at the Defense Information Systems Agency. He is responsible for the overseeing the service operations and enterprise architecture for DODNet. DODNet, a part of the DoD IT reform initiative, will serve as the single network service provider for Fourth Estate agencies. Additionally, he leads DODNet expansion, optimization, and migration efforts, with a focus on streamlining the end user experience. He joined the Defense Information Systems Agency in 2020 as the Senior Systems Architect for the DODNet Technical Plans Branch, designing the first-generation network services to support DODNet migrations, working with industry partners to pilot solutions, and developing roadmaps for future service capabilities. In 2022, Mr. Butler served as Deputy for the IT Services Division, before assuming his current role as Chief Engineer. Prior to joining DISA, Butler has supported the federal government as a contractor and civilian since 2008, leading engineering teams and serving as program manager for Justice and State Departments. Mr. Butler earned his Bachelor of Science in Information System from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
