Laura Wontrop Klauser is an automotive and motorsports strategy advisor known for building high-performance programs and teams. With a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Master’s in Engineering from the University of Michigan, Laura has built a career leading complex, high-performance initiatives at the intersection of engineering, competition, and strategy. At General Motors, she established and led the Sports Car Racing Competition Engineering group, growing the organization and contributing to championship success across Corvette and Cadillac racing programs competing in series such as IMSA and the World Endurance Championship. Her leadership helped deliver sustained competitive performance while developing strong, long-term relationships across manufacturers, teams, and sanctioning bodies. Today, Laura advises automotive and motorsports organizations on program strategy, organizational design, and performance execution. She works with manufacturers, racing teams, series organizers, and partners to help translate vision into executable plans, align engineering and operations, and create environments where people and programs can perform at their highest level. Beyond her professional work, Laura is deeply committed to developing future talent. She has been involved with SAE since her student years and continues to support and mentor engineering students. She brings a perspective grounded in technical excellence, strategic leadership, and a belief in building inclusive, high-performance cultures—making her a compelling voice in conversations around empowerment, growth, and opportunity.
