Luann Purcell, LLC
Luann L. Purcell, Ed.D. currently is president of Luann Purcell, LLC where she consults & is a strategic analyst for educational & associational organizations. Her tag sums up her current professional philosophy: Learning, Leading, & Progressing! She retired on 2/29/2020 as the Executive Director of the international Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE), a division of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). As CEO, her job responsibilities included: consulting & advising administrators on best practices for leadership & development of quality programs for students with disabilities; assisting members in developing networking systems through state, provincial, and country units in order to provide better services to members; advocating at the governmental level to assure appropriate legislation to facilitate the development & maintenance of quality programs for students with disabilities; & providing Keynote/breakout sessions & presentations at state, provincial,& regional conferences on leadership, legislative/policy updates, attitude adjustment & other current education issues. She is one of the authors of Leading by Convening: A Blueprint for Authentic Engagement & worked with state & provincial CASE units to implement this model of sustainable change by authentically engaging cross stakeholders. She was both a general & special education teacher, coordinator at a regional educational service center, & assistant superintendent for 18 years in a district with 27,000 students. Luann is still very active in CEC from the chapter through the international level & believes strongly in the local chapter to promote teacher retention & quality! Dr. Purcell received her bachelor’s degree at Georgia Southern University, her Masters’ & Specialists Degrees and her doctorate in Educational Administration from University of Georgia. Since her retirement, she works with CEC with the development of state & provincial units, especially assisting local chapters.
