Dr. Kirra Guard is an Assistant Professor of School Psychology at SUNY Oswego and an educational systems coach. In addition to training future school psychologists, she provides direct support to school and district leadership teams engaging in comprehensive school improvement initiatives, such as tiered models of support (MTSS/PBIS). Dr. Guard was trained as an elementary and special education teacher before earning her PhD in school psychology. She has worked as a school psychologist in Pennsylvania and New York, as well as on state-wide and national RTI/MTSS implementation projects. Dr. Guard's research and practice is focused on effective implementation of multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both academics and social/emotional/behavioral development, as well as effective school-community collaboration. She is the founder of Core Plus Coaching and Consulting and lives in the Finger Lakes area of New York with her four young children.
