Victor Martin
Dr. Victor Martin, Executive Director of Student Services
Alexandria City Public Schools
Dr. Martin brings more than 20 years of experience as an educator and leader committed to advancing equity and student success. He earned his bachelor’s degree in English from Oswego State University, followed by a master’s in education leadership from George Mason University. He later completed his doctorate in education leadership at the University of Pennsylvania, and in 2013 was selected as a fellow in Harvard University’s National Institute for Urban School Leaders. He began his career in San Diego, California, first as a classroom assistant and then as a teacher in a school serving students with emotional disabilities. After moving to Prince William County Public Schools, he taught at both the elementary and middle school levels before transitioning into administration at Parkside Middle School. He also led the division’s Office of Multicultural Education, deepening his work in culturally responsive practices and inclusive school environments. Within Alexandria City Public Schools, Dr. Martin has held several key leadership roles, including Executive Director of the Office of Student Support Teams, Executive Director of Alternative Programs and Equity, and Principal of the Northern Virginia Juvenile Detention Center. He now serves as the Executive Director of Student Services, where he oversees a broad portfolio of programs designed to ensure that every student has access to the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports they need to thrive.
