Leigh Coradetti is a passionate educational leader with over two decades of experience dedicated to championing inclusive practices and ensuring high-quality instruction for students with disabilities. Currently, she serves as the Director of Special Education for Oak Lawn-Hometown District 123, providing strategic oversight for special education services across seven schools. Her responsibilities include managing district-wide compliance (IDEA, Section 504, ISBE), overseeing the special education budget, and leading key recruitment and staffing initiatives. Leigh is motivated by a deep commitment to creating opportunities for students, always believing that educational decisions must be driven by a student’s unique needs, not limited by existing programs. She has a reputation for fostering strong, collaborative partnerships with families, staff, and community agencies to ensure all children receive the necessary access and mental health supports to thrive. Before transitioning into her directorial role, Leigh worked as a Special Education Coordinator and spent 17 years as a Special Education Teacher at Kankakee School District #111. This extensive frontline experience in diverse settings—from inclusive classrooms to self-contained and alternative programs—provides her with a unique, grounded perspective on the daily needs of students with varied emotional, behavioral, and academic exceptionalities. Leigh holds a degree in Educational Leadership from Governor’s State University. She remains steadfast in her commitment to reducing disproportionality in student identification and discipline, guided by the principle that every student is an individual with limitless potential.
