Hometown Elementary (Oak Lawn-Hometown District 123)
Dr. Amanda Bencik is an experienced educational leader currently serving as Elementary Principal for District 123 in Oak Lawn-Hometown, where she leads a dynamic school community of 400 students and 80 staff members. With over 20 years of experience in K-12 education, Dr. Bencik has dedicated her career to fostering exceptional and equitable student success through data-driven instructional practices and meaningful community partnerships. Dr. Bencik earned her Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Francis and holds a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Concordia University River Forest. Her leadership philosophy centers on creating inclusive school environments where student voice is valued, families are engaged partners, and staff members are empowered to excel. As an instructional leader, Dr. Bencik has implemented innovative approaches to student engagement, including establishing a Principal Advisory Group to amplify student perspectives and organizing peer observations through the Instructional Practices Inventory System. She is skilled in using assessment data to drive instruction, managing fiscally responsible budgets, and building collaborative professional learning communities. Prior to her current role, Dr. Bencik served as Assistant Principal at the middle school level and as a sixth-grade teacher in a neighboring elementary district, giving her comprehensive experience across elementary and middle school settings. Her expertise spans instructional leadership, positive behavior support systems, curriculum development, and family engagement—making her a passionate advocate for student-centered education and a visionary leader committed to preparing all students for success.
