Theresa Franklin
Your Leadership Matters: Transforming Special Education for Boys with ADHD

Theresa Franklin is a special education consultant with WRESA. She has 30+ years of experience in the field of special education working in both public and charter schools. Theresa is a life-long learner, committed to continuous improvement that promotes collaborative learning environments that drive positive student outcomes and program goals. She is also a certified instructor through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and MindSet Safety Management. Theresa teaches nonviolent crisis intervention with an emphasis on prevention and relationship building. Supporting other professionals is Theresa’s passion and she has presented on numerous topics, including, how to address difficult conversations, educating students in the least restrictive environment, discipline protections for students with disabilities, trauma informed supports, de-escalation strategies, collaborative team-building, universal design for learning (UDL), positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBSI) and culturally responsive instruction. Theresa attended the Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida where she obtained her Master of Science Degree in Special Education in Emotional Disturbances/Learning Disabilities with a concentration on helping incarcerated youth. Theresa continued her studies at Eastern Michigan University obtaining her Ed Specialist Degree in Special Education Administration. Outside of work, Theresa enjoys live music, theater, art exhibits, rehabbing old furniture, working on dollhouses, bowling with family, and date nights with her husband.
