Pauline Smith, B.Ed. (Hons), M.A., M.Ed., is a certified special education teacher and administrator with more than 25 years of experience serving Connecticut schools and districts. She currently works as a Consultant for Cooperative Educational Services, is the Educational Director at Villa Maria School in Stamford, and is an Adjunct Professor at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield. In addition she partners with the Connecticut State Department of Education on training and capacity-building initiatives related to the development of high quality IEPs. A recognized expert in professional learning, she has presented at national conferences on effective professional development for paraeducators. Her areas of expertise include: Paraprofessional Training: Designing professional learning that aligns paraeducator practice with state and national standards; IEP Development: Supporting teams in creating compliant, high‑quality, student‑centered IEPs; Leadership & Compliance: Drawing on her experience as a Director of Pupil Personnel Services across multiple Connecticut districts. She holds an M.A. in Special Education, an M.Ed. in Early Childhood Special Education, and an Executive Leadership Certificate from the University of Connecticut.
