Dale Matusevich

Dale has been with the Delaware Department of Education (DDOE) since July 2008. He was named Director of Exceptional Children Resources in July 2022. Before being named Director, Dale served as the Education Associate for Secondary and Transition Services. Prior to his position with DDOE, he spent 10 years employed at the Virginia Department of Education’s Training and Technical Assistance Center at Radford University (RU T/TAC). While at the RU T/TAC, he served as a Transition Coordinator for Superintendent Regions 6 & 7 providing technical assistance to over 30 local education agencies and 2 state operated programs. He also served as the state coordinator for Virginia’s Transition Outcomes Project from 2003-2008. Dale began his teaching career as a special education teacher for Roanoke City Public Schools in Roanoke, Virginia, where he taught at the elementary, middle and high school levels in a variety of settings. During his time with Roanoke City Public Schools, he also served as the Homeless Education Coordinator under the McKinney-Vento Act. In addition to teaching, he has been a mental health counselor and paraeducator. Dale has an undergraduate degree in psychology from Hampden-Sydney College and a master’s degree in special education from Radford University. He is both a past president of VA Division on Career Development and Transition (DCDT) and National DCDT.
