Dr. Missy Brooks is the Director of Instruction and Special Education for Mountain Brook Schools, where she also oversees Federal Programs, Career Tech, Professional Development, and Accountability. She completed her Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Samford University in 2011. Throughout her career, Dr. Brooks has made significant contributions to the field of education. As a consultant for various schools, she specializes in curriculum development, assessment, social-emotional learning, self-regulation, and promoting student voice and ownership. Her expertise has garnered recognition, having been quoted in esteemed national publications such as Tech & Learning, District Administration, and The Journal. She has been featured in Special Ed Connections. Moreover, she contributed to a podcast by Frontline Education that focused on mental health in schools. In 2020, Dr. Brooks was honored with the Outstanding Curriculum Leader - Lifetime Achievement Award from Alabama ASCD, highlighting her commitment to excellence in education. She is a proud member of the National Council of Innovative Instructional Leaders (NCIIL), a collective of visionary leaders dedicated to transforming challenges into opportunities in public education. Dr. Brooks is driven by a passion for human-centered leadership and innovation. She whole-heartedly believes in making all people - students, parents, and teachers - feel seen, known, and heard.
