Courtney Atkinson

Courtney Atkinson is a dedicated educator with 12 years of experience in K–12 education. She holds a Master of Arts in Strategic Communications and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Houston–Downtown, along with an associate degree from Sacramento City College. She previously served as the Life Skills Department Lead at Academic Behavior School West with the Harris County Department of Education, where she supported specialized instruction and staff development. Now serving as District Instructional Coach, Courtney provides mentorship, professional development, and instructional support to teachers to strengthen classroom practices and improve student outcomes. She has experience facilitating Professional Learning Communities and supporting initiatives such as IEP Implementation Data Teams, PBIS, and Curriculum & Instruction. Courtney is passionate about student-centered learning, teacher growth, and family engagement. She was recently recognized as the 2024–2025 Harris County Department of Education Teacher of the Year.
