Founded in 1935, Holland has been a leader in progressive and comprehensive solutions spanning the rail industry for 85 years. We’re known across North America as the premier provider of flash-butt welding services and lead the way in track geometry measurement and track maintenance and construction. Our full portfolio of innovative Maintenance of Way services keeps Class 1, Short Line and Transit rail systems running safely and efficiently by giving them the ability to move beyond find and fix to plan for maximum uptime.
The newest innovation in Holland's welding portfolio is Short Plug Repair Welding. This process provides higher quality and more efficient defect remediation with a smaller footprint than traditional methods. With Holland's Short Plug Repair Welding gang, 5' plugs are used versus a 20' plug. This eliminates waste and allows railroads to do more with what they have, lessening the need to procure new rail.
Along with our legacy of flash-butt welding equipment and services, Holland’s Automated Manganese Refurbishment (HAMR®) has excelled at providing higher quality and longer-lasting repairs to frogs and diamond inserts. This process uses as robotically controlled welding procedures to build back damaged areas to give new life to these rail components 2-3 times faster than the manual process. HAMR helps increase efficiency and resiliency for partners by using recycled material as an alternative for frequently hard-to-source special trackwork.
Holland’s Argus® track measurement technology features multiple ways for railroads to inspect their tracks. From portable inspection, contract testing and locomotive-based autonomous track measurement system, the overall goal is to provide railways with the data they need to see trends in areas to prevent problems before they occur. Our Track Inspector system provides full geometry and can be mounted, configured and calibrated by one person in less than an hour onto the back of any hi-rail vehicle with a standard hitch receiver. The Locomotive UGMS, a locomotive-based autonomous track geometry and rail profile measurement system takes advantage of existing train routes to provide continuous testing along critical network corridors while eliminating the need for track time. This along with years of experience providing contract testing services are ways Holland continues to help railroads make the most effective use of their maintenance and capital funds.
